James L. Cavanah II, Th.D.
Rev. Dr. James L. Cavanah II first came to Holy Trinity in July 2011 to serve as our supply pastor. In September of that year he was invited to serve as interim Pastor. After receiving a call to serve as our regular pastor he was installed on Sunday, February 10, 2013. Pastor Jim grew up in Garden City but both of his parents were born and raised in Effingham County. Pastor Jim’s roots run deep in Effingham soil and go back to the early Salzburgers who settled at Ebenezer in 1734.
Pastor Jim graduated from Armstrong State College with a BA in Political Science and a minor in Criminal Justice. His theological education includes a Master of Divinity Degree from Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, Mississippi, Doctor of Ministry studies at Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, and he earned a Doctor of Theology in Church History from Evangel Christian University in Monroe, Louisiana. He has pastored churches in Mississippi and Florida before returning to Georgia as our pastor.
Pastor Jim’s wife, Dawn, is also a graduate of Armstrong State College, Troy University, and completed her Ph.D. at Northwestern University. She has taught middle grades in both public and private schools.
